Two brothers in Garland. A fifteen year old rental with a Frankenstein roof, three shingle types stitched together, one blown tab. Their own house newer, a missing ridge cap, maybe two real hail hits buried in normal wear. Nothing that wins. I told them straight. No claim worth filing on either one.
I could have pushed it. Plenty do. They file anything, let the adjuster sort it out, and burn the relationship when it gets denied. That's how a company earns a bad name one address at a time.
Here is the math the cowboys miss. A denied claim costs you the customer and everyone they talk to. An honest no costs you nothing today and buys you the next storm, the referral, the neighbor, the commercial building they happen to own. The short game is filing. The long game is being the one person who told them the truth when everyone else wanted their signature.
Tell them not to file. They will remember it longer than any roof.
