Partner, Don't Build Crews

blogJune 13, 2026 · Nick Lavelle

You do not need to own trucks in every state to make money in every state.

The trap operators fall into is thinking growth means more crews, more payroll, more equipment, more liability. I think the opposite. I'd rather find the right local licensed operator in a market and feed them volume than carry a crew I have to keep busy in a slow month.

Oklahoma is a good example. Instead of opening an office I found a local roofer working toward his commercial license and lined up a model: I generate the storm leads, he's the boots on the ground and the licensed entity that runs the job. Same idea with turnkey subs who can build what I sell without me staffing the install.

Asset light scales. A crew is a fixed cost that eats you between storms. A partnership is a variable cost that only exists when there's revenue attached.

Own the lead generation, the relationships, and the systems. Partner out the labor. That's how you cover ground without drowning in overhead.

The guy you call when the stakes are high.

Consulting, speaking, partnerships, and advisory. One conversation to start.
