Operator, Not Roofer

blogJune 9, 2026 · Nick Lavelle

I have stood on hundreds of roofs. The roof is almost never the problem.

The problem is weak operations and the wrong partners. A deal dies because nobody owned the follow-up. A claim gets torpedoed because the homeowner called the carrier before anyone coached them. A crew no-shows because the contract never defined what "done" meant. None of that is shingles. All of it is operations.

I don't sell roofs. I build the machine that sells roofs, services them, documents them, and pays the people who did the work. The roof is the output. The system is the asset.

Most people in this trade are technicians who got promoted into chaos. They can read hail like a book and still lose the file because there's no pipeline, no single point of contact, no record of what was said. I came in the opposite direction. I spent my first three months at a company not selling, but rebuilding the back office: SOPs, CRM, training modules, the workflow from door knock to build complete.

Boring? To them. Leverage to me.

Be the operator. The roofer works one roof at a time. The operator works the whole board.

The guy you call when the stakes are high.

Consulting, speaking, partnerships, and advisory. One conversation to start.
