A storm hits and a window opens. Most people stand still and watch it close.
When the Midwest lit up, I put it plainly to my team: get on the road now. Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin were wide open. Competitors were absent or disorganized. Adjusters were freshly deployed with reserves already allocated. That is the single best moment in this business and it does not last.
We ran a forty eight hour deployment into Iowa, inspected fifteen plus commercial roofs, and walked into a housing authority portfolio worth around a million dollars. Wisconsin was the next target, bigger. The play was simple: get twenty plus roofs under contract fast and aim for the two hundred fifty to four hundred thousand dollar range per file, because that's the sweet spot where an adjuster approves without dragging it through a year of fighting.
Speed is the whole game. The reps who get organized first arrive to a saturated market and entrenched local roofers who already own the relationships. The reps who move arrive while the ground is still soft.
You do not schedule a storm. You answer it. Pack the truck.
